"Mission Statement"
Working to enhance and maintain Norco's
rural animal keeping lifestyle

We're the Norco Horsemen's Association. We're here to promote and preserve the large lots and animal keeping lifestyle that we now enjoy.

We are a non-profit, non-political group. We endorse no candidates. We do, however, support issues and policies which are directly related to keeping Norco, Norco.

Norco is different from all other cities. People move here because of the "rural" atmosphere. You won't find another city government as dedicated to keeping the large lots and animals... for now. It's a dream to think that things will stay this way forever without a fight. That's why this group was founded - to protect and maintain the things that people move here to enjoy.

Presidents Message

This is the season to be out riding our horses. Instead I'm sitting here writing this article for the web. I look up and see horses and riders passing in front of my house. What a wonderful place Norco is to live. The members of The Norco Horsemen's Association have worked very hard to enhance and maintain Norco's rural animal keeping lifestyle. I feel this association in many ways has made it possible for those riders to be able to enjoy the trail system Norco has today. NHA is not just another riding club. Sure our members ride all the time and participate in all types of equestrian activities but we also contribute a lot back to our community.
Our membership has donated food and helped the seniors and their pets in our city. NHA gives $5000.00 in scholarships to the Norco High School FFA seniors each year to help them on the way to college. The NHA trails committee donated an ATV, an animal lifting A-frame and an Anderson sling for helicopter rescue of stranded horses to the Norco Fire Department (the only Anderson sling in Riverside County) for the rescue of large animals where ever needed. When the city had no money to replace the arena pipe panels at Ted Brooks Park again the NHA Trails Committee stepped up and donated the money to replace those pipe panels.
In 1992 The Norco Horsemen's Association put on our first poker ride and about 300 riders showed up that day. We took in a lot of money and again the city had no money for trail fencing. NHA donated $3000.00 for the first trail fencing to be put up in Norco. Look around today and you can see what NHA started 16 years ago. We have trail fencing all over town. NHA has led the way with many trails clean up projects over the years.
These are just a few of the many donations and activities that this association has accomplished over the years. The editor would never give me enough room to list them all. I take great pride in the wonderful dedicated members of the Norco Horsemen's Association. We should never forget our volunteer work even when it seems to go unnoticed; it lives on long after we have all gone.
Ruth Sanders passed away on April 15th this year. Ruth and Dick Sanders were two of the most selfless and dedicated people I have ever met. Those two sold more fair buttons, worked harder on trail clean up days, poured more beer at the rodeo beer booth than anyone else. Ruth and Dick also adopted and took care of the trail behind their home on Crestview Ave. The one up on the side of the hill of course. The trail on the flat would have been way too easy for these two 80 plus year olds. I'm working with Norco Public Works to place a special trail marker on that trail in memory of Ruth and Dick Sanders.
I would like to see as many members as possible show up the day we dedicate this trail maker in their honor.
Remember: There's nothing better for a man's soul than being outside on a Horse.
